York Space System’s new 8,400-square-foot office near Quarry Lake to support the growth of its software team.
The 8,400-square-foot office near Quarry Lake replaces York’s previous space in North Hyde Park. Designed to support software development, design, and testing, the larger facility gives York room to expand its Austin team and bring on additional technical talent. York established its Austin presence in 2023 through its acquisition of Emergent Space Technologies.
“Austin has been an exceptional home for this team, and this office is the next step as we grow to meet customer demand,” said Nate Cooper, VP of Space Vehicle Engineering at York. “Software is integral to our spacecraft platforms and every mission we support. Bringing our teams closer together will help us integrate software from the outset, move faster, and deliver more capable systems. That close connection between spacecraft, software, and mission operations is a defining strength for York.”
York’s investment in Austin supports its development of integrated systems across space, land, sea, and air, with space providing the backbone for communications and coordination. As defense customers deploy larger fleets of unmanned aircraft, vehicles, and maritime systems, York is developing the architecture to connect and coordinate those assets at scale, including in contested environments. Software plays a critical role in integrating these systems, managing missions, and adapting capabilities as operational needs change.
Austin’s depth of software and computer science talent, including its proximity to the University of Texas, makes it an important location for York’s continued growth. The company’s headquarters and primary manufacturing operations remain in Colorado.
